Self-Care has become an important topic for me. I have been giving to others all my life and neglecting myself. Once I begin to put myself first I began to understand how self-care is essential to my growth.
Social media will have you thinking that self-care is taking trips to these beautiful beaches or getting full body massages everyday. But that is so far from the truth.
What is Self-Care and Why Is It Important?
Self-Care is an act of what we do to take care of our mental, physical, and emotional health. Self-care is a daily action that we perform to better ourselves. It’s something we do to keep going and to improve lives and the lives of everyone around us.
Self-Care is a mood booster and stress reliever. It is not about being selfish or rude. It really is about taking care of your self so you can have better relationships with others. Do you want to be a better mother, daughter, friend, or partner? Then self-care is the tool.
“How do you define ‘taking care of yourself’? Create a new self-care practice today. Observe your comfort level when it comes to being good to yourself. Discomfort is a wise teacher.”
– Caroline Myss and Peter Occhiogrosso
Every Sunday I will begin to share a self-care tip, tool, or information that can assist you on your journey of self-care. It is important to have a self-care practice that can help you think clearer, relax, evaluate, and just turn off the world.
I build that you will join in on this journey of self-care.
How do you currently practice self-care?
